LARGE VEHICLE BOMB COUNTERMEASURES COURSE

This course provides bomb technicians with dynamic disablement theory, methods, and tools against vehicle-borne IEDs (VBIEDs).

Learn about dynamic disablement theory, methods, and tools against vehicle-borne IEDs (VBIEDs).  Bomb technicians will learn about circuit response times, momentum and energy transfer, and shock effects.  Students will learn about VBIED design and structural challenges. Technicians will use portal charges, propellant driven disrupters, over-pressure high explosives charges, mass-focusing high explosive disrupters, and mass expulsion using large-scale disrupters and omni-directional high explosive charges. Technicians will implement new technologies, disablement logic, and render safe procedures that are based on testing and scientifically derived formulas. Instead of depending entirely on tables and loading guides to make decisions, operators will be able to use their new knowledge of disablement engineering to determine the optimum tool and render safe procedure. Technicians will reach a new level of proficiency and confidence in themselves.
